Synopsis For The Middle Texas Coastal Waters
An upper level trough will provide scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across the region Sunday and Sunday night...with the rain activity expected to gradually diminish Sunday night. An area of low pressure originating in the Bay of Campeche will merge with Hurricane Ida over the central Gulf of Mexico on Monday. This will provide an increasing east flow on Sunday...turning more northeast late Sunday afternoon and north by Monday morning. Winds and seas will increase as a result of the tightening gradient. Ida is expected to remain east of the region over the northeast Gulf of Mexico through the middle of this coming week. Moderate to strong offshore flow with large swells is expected through midweek as a result. A gradual decline of the swells and winds is expected by Wednesday night into Thursday as the core of the high pressure area finally shifts into the middle Texas coastal waters.
