I thought it would be nice to have a section for wildflowers (and some native trees)

I am always amazed by the rugged yet fragile beauty and sheer variety of them

Finally! We havent seen much wildflower action due to all the unseasonable rain. Now the grass is too tall in many places for the wildflowers to do their thing. These caught my eye today while goofing off during a rare sunny day. Nemophila menziesii is their scientific name.

Reflections of Spring (digidad)
Nice redbud growing beside our pond. I think this is a cultivated one, but they grow wild particularly along rivers and gullys around here.

A most welcome sight! (chantarelle)
Hepatica nobilis is always the first wild flower to appear in spring. The deep blue blooms signal that winter is finally over!

I havent found out the mname to this one yet Taken at Rodman Slough Preserve during the Heron And Art event. There were hourly walks through the preserve for birdwatching. Highlight was nesting egrets in a tall oak tree. They had evicted green herons from their nests!

Oh, wonderful! I love wildflowers and native flowering shrubs and trees. I don't think they get the attention they should. I particularily like the native azaleas. Do you have them in your area?
