I was up at 5 AM because Fluff was yakking up a hairball.
But the wind was at it again, so I would have woken anyway. The house was shaking. I checked the wind gauge and it was about the same as last night, high gust was 63. The wind has been straight from the north. If it changed to NW it would hit the device unimpeded. Instead, my house runs a little interference. Hoping we get it installed this weekend properly.
All day we had a series of snow squalls move through. Maybe 10 of them. One is coming through right now. I watched the wind change from 14 to 44 in just a couple seconds. Typical gusts I have seen were in the 50's. No big deal, really. Prediction tonight calls for gusts to 100. That is getting a bit closer to a big deal.
These squalls come straight off the bay. You can see them all develop. The obvious sign is the curtain of snow moving toward you. Nothing can be seen through it. It moves across the road and over the small boat harbor. Just before it hits the house a few rogue flakes arrive, then the whole gang. A lot of it is sleet, which hits my window and cakes up quickly. Soon it is coated and I see nothing, but the window to the side is fine. The wind kicks in, but after 5 minutes it is all over. The one storm cloud heads toward the Pacific Ocean. And the sun comes out for 15 minutes. Then the skies turn dark up north and we start it all over again.
It keep things interesting.
The wind contest in December will be in good old American miles per hour.
Hoppy was here for breakfast. It was very windy at the time but the porch was blocking the brunt of it. Tonight we have had wind again, but there have been calm spots. Even so, no Hoppy. First missed meal in a while.
I watched him leave a few days ago, and he went straight up Haystack. Near the top he seemed to disappear. I think he has a den up there. Recently I also saw him slink under a structure right across the road, so he knows where to find some shelter. He cvan also get under either of my porches for some quick protection.
Last night he was eating. I heard the bowl knocking around, so I went to see what was happening. Hoppy was scared away as Farfel the Demon Beagle had arrived for the leftovers. I yelled at him, so he grabbed the bowl and took off with it across the road. I watched as he disappeared over a hill.
Pretty much the same ol’ same ol’ here.
10:06 PM. 37 degrees. Winds from the west at 15 right now. Barometer holding steady at 29.47.

Last night was interesting weather, tonight could be the same. It woke me up at 5 AM, after I went to sleep at midnight in almost dead calm. The highest gust my device measured was 64 mph. Today at some point we got another at 65. It was warning me of a fast drop in barometric pressure late last night.Talked to my landlord who says he will have time soon to remount the device, but weather is now the factor. Bought some brackets to mount it to the building today. ...

So last night we got POUNDED. Maybe 80 mph winds. Slamming my windows. Making me wonder if they may break. Not sure of that wind speed.TODAY, I wanted to know. My landlord had been busy at work, so he was unable to install my weather station. After last night, I wanted to know what was happening. Weather was supposed to continue. For the next few days.Today I talked to the landlord, and he agreed to let me set it up temporarily. He had a piece of pipe to ...

Have you all heard about the new largest cruise ship in the world? WOW.OASIS OF THE SEAS. Built in Finland, on it’s maiden voyage to Florida (surprise). As tall as a 20 story building, it has telescoping smokestacks. It needed them, as it had less than 2 feet of clearance under a bridge in Denmark. After they were retracted..There is an indoor theater that seats 1300. An outdoor ampitheater seats 750, with an ocean background. It is FIVE TIMES as big as The Tit...

At 8:17 PM it is pretty well dark on Halloween.Just a beautiful day here again today. Calm and sunny. Probably got to the mid forties. This evening could not have been nicer. I grilled some chicken on the porch. Hoppy showed up during it all and he ate next to the grill and did not try to get at it. He is now sleeping in the shadows on the edge of the ridge by my house. The moon is out, with patchy clouds moving in front of it. Perfect atmosphere for Halloween...
