southeastern Onslow County in eastern North Carolina...

* until 300 PM EDT

* at 226 PM EDT... a severe thunderstorm was located over Camp Lejeune
center... moving east at 15 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
           to roofs... siding... and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Jacksonville... New River station... Piney Green...
Camp Lejeune center... Pumpkin Center...
Swansboro and Hammocks Beach State Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground

... Heat advisory in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a heat advisory... which is in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* Heat index values... up to 108.

* Timing... late morning through late afternoon.

* Impacts... individuals engaged in outdoor activities should be
cautious of health impacts from the high heat and humidity.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors. Keep pets inside if possible.

Take extra precautions... if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible
and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work... the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency... call 9 1 1.

At 146 PM EDT... a strong thunderstorm was located over Pumpkin
Center... moving northeast at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Jacksonville... Half Moon... New River station... Piney Green...
Camp Lejeune center... Pumpkin Center... Swansboro and Maysville.

Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Strong winds are
capable of knocking down small trees and blowing around trash cans...
potted plants... lawn furniture and other light outdoor objects.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm... and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
